The Iowa living will form (as described by the Iowa State Legislature) allows a person to make a pre-determined decision on whether to continue medical treatment if he or she is in an incapacitated medical state with no treatable ways to return. This allows the doctors or medical staff to “pull the plug” if the person states in the living will to do so. The patient may also elect to have their organs be donated if they are still in working or functioning condition.
