Tax Brackets
The state of Nebraska has 8 marginal tax brackets, that range from the lowest being 2.46% and the highest being 6.84%. These rates shall apply to the earnings within the marginal tax brackets that would apply to your earnings. In the state of Nebraska different tax brackets will apply to different filing types.
Single Tax Brackets
- Earnings between $0.00 and $2,400, you will pay 2.46% only
- Earnings between $2,400.00 and $17,500, you will pay 3.51% + $59.04
- Earnings between $17,500.00 and $27,000, you will pay 5.01% + $589.05
- Earnings over $27,000.00, you will pay 6.84% + $1,065.00
Married Tax Brackets
- Earnings between $0.00 and $4,800, you will pay 2.46% only
- Earnings between $4,800.00 and $35,000, you will pay 3.51% + $118.08
- Earnings between $35,000.00 and $54,000, you will pay 5.01% + $1,178.10
- Earnings over $54,000.00, you will pay 6.84% + $2,130.00
Extensions
In order to receive and extension in the state of Nebraska you must have applied for a federal extension with Form 4868 no later than April 17th. If you owe additional taxes to the state you must pay 90% of the owed taxes by the filing due date.
