How to File for Divorce in Mississippi

Step 1 – In order to file a no-fault divorce, both spouses must be in agreement on all assets and debts/liabilities and fill out the following forms;

Step 2 – File the forms with the Mississippi Chancery Court.

Step 3 – Both the spouses must get together and complete the Certificate of Compliance and the Financial Statement.

Step 4 – A couple may setup a court date after sixty (60) days from the original filing date. Once the day has been reached the Notice of Trial must be filed. Check with the court clerk’s office as the petitioner may need to send notice if the court date, otherwise the court will send the defendant notice.

Step 5 – Make four (4) copies of the Judgment for Absolute Divorce to the court hearing. If all goes well, the Judge will authorize this form and in the State of Mississippi your divorce will be considered complete.
