A Prom Checklist is essential for the modern girl, because planning for your prom is like planning a major military campaign. If you want to succeed, you don’t just rush helter-skelter into battle; rather, you must begin planning your operation months in advance.

Using a Prom Checklist

The first item on your Prom Checklist is finances, because proms don’t come cheaply. The ultimate source of financing, of course, is your parents. If you can get proper assurances here, or if you can self-finance it from your savings, then all is well. If, on the other hand, you will have to get a part-time job, the amount of money you will have to garner is not insignificant. So, put getting a part-time job four months out before prom day.

Also at four months out, your Prom Checklist should include making sure your weight is where it should be. This item must be started now, so it will be completed when you make your final decision about your prom dress.

At ten weeks out, your hair becomes an item on your Prom Checklist. Start trimming your hair; you don’t want any split ends on the big day!

At 2 months out, pick out your prom dress. Also, since your date, being a male, will most likely be completely disinterested in these matters, make sure he starts acting on getting himself prepared for prom night with a tux and accessories that will match the star of the event – which is YOU!

Make sure you’ve included making sure that prom tickets have been purchased with plenty of time to spare. This vital item should be included at one month out on you Prom Checklist.

Also at one month out, make sure that you have the appointment with your hairdresser locked in, unless you are doing by yourself or with your mother and your friends.

At two weeks out, make sure you have an item for breaking in your prom shoes on your Prom Checklist. Nothing will ruin your evening more than walking around in shoes that haven’t been rendered comfortable and fit for habitation by your feet. Also at this juncture, there should be an item on your checklist for making sure all related reservations, such as dinner, are completely solid.

For ten days out, make sure your Prom Checklist includes having all your D-Day supplies stockpiled. This includes nail polish, camera, and other vital sundries.

Finally, the day before the Prom, make sure your date has picked up his boutonniere. Remember, he is male, so he cannot be relied on to this without constant reminders.
