MetroLink is the light rail division of the Metro Transit St. Louis public transportation system. Metrolink’s Red Line extends from Shiloh-Scott, IL in the east, through St Louis Missouri to the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport just west of St. Louis. MetroLink’s Blue line parallels the Red Line from Fairview Heights in Illinois to Forest Park-DeBaliviere in Missouri, and then extends southward to Shrewsbury Missouri. The Metro Transit St. Louis website can be found at http://www.metrostlouis.org.

Using MetroLINK St. Louis
On the top of the opening screen of the website, the user will find a series of radio buttons. If the user hovers over PLAN YOUR TRIP, a drop-down menu appears, and one of the choices is SYSTEM MAPS. On choosing this option, a new page appears at http://www.metrostlouis.org/PlanYourTrip/SystemMap.aspx. One of the many options now available is the choice of METROLINK SCHEMATIC MAP. Choosing this option will reveal a map, at http://www.metrostlouis.org/Libraries/System_Map_PDFs/Metrolink_Schematic_Map.pdf, diagramming the Metrolink’s Red Line and Blue Line, including where both start and finish, where they intersect, and where they diverge.
If you are looking for MetroLink train schedules, again hover above MAPS & SCHEDULES on the website’s front page, and this time choose METROLINK PDF SCHEDULES. If you do so, a new page opens up at http://www.metrostlouis.org/PlanYourTrip/MetroLinkPDFSchedules.aspx. From here, you can choose any station on either the Red Line or the Blue Line, and a schedule appears detailing the time of day, both for weekdays, weekends and holidays, that a train will depart in either direction. In the case where a station is served by both light rail lines, the schedule will detail which line the departing train will serve.
There are other choices available from METROLINK PDF SCHEDULES. These include options to view, and to print, up-to-the-minute versions of the MetroLink weekday and weekend schedules.
MetroBus, is, of course, the bus component of the Metro Transit St. Louis public transportation system. One of the choices available when you hover over the PLAN YOUR TRIP radio button is METROBUS PDF SCHEDULES, which appears at http://www.metrostlouis.org/PlanYourTrip/MetroBusPDFSchedules.aspx. From here, you can obtain the schedule and trip map of every bus on the system.
The MAPS & SCHEDULES radio button offers a very helpful variation for both the bus and light rail components. Hovering over this button will offer choices entitled METROLINK STATIONS and METROBUS ROUTES.
Choosing either one doesn’t change the url. But, if you choose the former, a list of all the available buses appears. Choose any one of them, and a resizable map of the immediate station area appears, as well as information about the station, and links to other parts of the system’s schedule. Choosing METROBUS ROUTES instead offers analogous choices for the bus system.
As might be expected, the MetroBus and MetroLink are tightly coordinated. On the right, top side of the front page of the website, the rider will find the TRIP PLANNER. Choosing it will open a new browser page at http://tripplanner.metrostlouis.org/. Here you enter you itinerary, and the trip plan using both elements of the system is produced.
