Brochures are great ways to advertise a number of different types of businesses: salons, restaurants and coffee shops, pet care, car washes, dry cleaners, hotels, and so forth. Customers for these businesses usually don’t need a large amount of detailed information to make a purchasing decision, so the room available on a brochure is sufficient to communicate your message to them.

Brochures are often the first contact a business makes with a potential customer, so the business should convey its strongest selling points. These could include discounts or special products or services that make it stand out from the competition. At the same time, the scope of the brochure should be limited. Don’t include too much information, such as a detailed biography of the company’s founders. Instead, focus on one main point, such as showing customers how your business can provide a service they need.

You should also incorporate any theme that characterizes your business into the brochure. For example, if your coffee shop’s dĂ©cor reflects chic modernism, the text and graphics on your brochure should do the same.

The text and graphics you use must be carefully selected to persuade the reader while conveying important information about your business. Use concise, compelling language that does not sound fluffy or salesy, and break up text with bullet points or subheadings to make the formatting more appealing. Write exactly what potential customers would want to know, such as how the product or service will benefit them, without simply describing what you sell.

Graphics

Think about images and graphics you can use that would grab readers’ attention and compel them to read further. These graphics need not be closely related to your business logo or name. In fact, repeating these on the front of the brochure could bore readers. Instead, you could use images that relate to your business’s theme or an abstract image that relates to your field. The critical point here is to grab the readers’ attention—don’t bore them.

One critical part of creating a brochure is using thick, glossy paper. This will enhance the appearance of professionalism, and many readers will dismiss the brochure entirely if they feel the brochure is made too cheaply. Be sure to include all necessary contact information as well, such as your address, phone number, email, and your business’s hours. You can even include a map and directions.
