In the state of Maryland there are sixteen marginal tax bracket that range from the lowest at 2.00% to the highest Maryland tax bracket of 5.75%. Marginal rates apply to earnings within the marginal tax brackets.
Single Individuals Tax Bracket
- Earnings between $0.00 and $1,000, you will pay 2.00% only
- Earnings between $1,000.00 and $2,000, you will pay 3.00% + $20.00
- Earnings between $2,000.00 and $3,000, you will pay 4.00% + $50.00
- Earnings between $3,000.00 and $100,000, you will pay 4.75% + $90.00
- Earnings between $100,000.00 and $125,000, you will pay 5.00% + $4,697.50
- Earnings between $125,000.00 and $150,000, you will pay 5.25% + $5,947.50
- Earnings between $150,000.00 and $250,000, you will pay 5.50% + $7,260.00
- Earnings over $250,000.00, you will pay 5.75% + $12,760.00
Married Couples Tax Bracket
- Earnings between $0.00 and $1,000, you will pay 2.00% only
- Earnings between $1,000.00 and $2,000, you will pay 3.00% + $20.00
- Earnings between $2,000.00 and $3,000, you will pay 4.00% + $50.00
- Earnings between $3,000.00 and $150,000, you will pay 4.75% + $90.00
- Earnings between $150,000.00 and $175,000, you will pay 5.00% + $7,072.50
- Earnings between $175,000.00 and $225,000, you will pay 5.25% + $8,322.50
- Earnings between $225,000.00 and $300,000, you will pay 5.50% + $10,947.50
- Earnings over $300,000.00, you’ll pay 5.75% + $15,072.50
Extensions
The state of Maryland automatically extends a six-month extension of time for state tax filing.
