How to Get
Whether or not you have any doubt at all about whether or not the company that you work for will require proof of illness from your Doctor, have your physician provide a note anyway and have him/her write it while you are present in their office. Your doctor is prohibited from providing the diagnosis of your illness without your specific permission, however they can provide proof that there truly is a necessity for your visit and provide recommend length of absence. Your Doctor may also mention (in writing) any special accommodations you may require in order to return to work or classes.
Acquiring a Doctor’s excuse may also offer you some protection in the event that the company decides to use your absence as a reason for disallowing a promotion on your job or terminating you. It will also protect student from being dropped from courses if absent beyond the allowed sick days. Employees and students have certain protections under US law. Any injury or illness that has been documented by any healthcare professional will provide you with the documents that are necessary to be allowed to continue with employment or classes.
