The Kansas rental lease agreements allow for a tenant to be able to legally occupy a property for a period of time in exchange for rent that is usually paid on a monthly basis. The landlord may request a rental application before signing as to make sure the tenant can afford the amount and is credible. If there are any questions about either party’s rights or State laws they should refer to the Kansas Residential Landlord and Tenant Act.

Common Tenant-Landlord Laws

  • Security Deposit
    • Statutory Limit
      • Un-Furnished – One Month
      • Furnished – One and a Half Months
      • Pet(s) – Add a Half Months portion
    • Returning to Tenant – Must be returned to tenant within thirty (30) days
  • Access to Property – Landlord must give at least twenty-four (24) hours notice before entering property for a reason other than for emergency use
