The Maine bill of sale is used to record the purchase and sale of a vehicle or boat. Both buyer and seller must authorize and the new owner will be required to show an original at his or her local Bureau of Motor Vehicles Office.
How to Register a Vehicle in Maine
What you will need to bring to your local office:
- Completed and signed bill of sale
- Registration Application – The applicant will get this from their local town hall after paying the excise tax
- Proof of Car Insurance
- Signed title by the seller transferring it to the new owner – (Application for new title if one does not exist)
- Bring a blank check made payable to the Maine bureau of vehicles as the fees are always changing
