How to File
Step 1 – Complete the Application – Select the form that matches what you are trying to create and complete either on your computer or fill in by hand in black ink;
- Domestic (Most Common) – For all companies that will have a principal office address located inside South Carolina.
- Foreign – For all companies located outside of the State.
Step 2 – Prepare Filing – In order to prepare the mailing of the articles of organization, the following must be done;
- Attach a fee of $110 made payable to the South Carolina Secretary of State
- Make 2 copies of the completed form
- Self-addressed, stamped return envelope
Step 3 – Mail – Send the articles of organization along with all the necessary fees and documents to:

Tips
- Bank Accounts (EIN Number) – In order to be able to register for a bank account with your LLC, an Employer Identification Number (EIN) must be applied for either in the mail or online. This is a free service provided by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- Operating Agreement – If an LLC is owned by members or a single owner, it is recommended that this form be completed to protect the companies entity status as well as the members from themselves. An operating agreement outlines the terms and conditions on which company will function, ownership, revenues, profit sharing, and any other details necessary.
