How to File
Step 1 – Download and complete one of the following articles of organization forms;
- Domestic – For all LLC’s that will be located inside the State
- Foreign – For all existing LLC’s located outside the State
Step 2 – Attach a check in the amount of $120 payable to the Connecticut Secretary of State.
Step 3 – Mail the filing fee and completed articles to:
- COMMERCIAL RECORDING DIVISION, CONNECTICUT SECRETARY OF THE STATE, P.O. BOX 150470, HARTFORD, CT 06115-0470
Wait between 10 to 15 business days for your completed LLC to return in the mail. At this time your filing is complete and you may conduct business within the State.
Tips
- Apply for an EIN Number – This will allow you to create a bank account and start building your business credit.
- LLC Operating Agreement – This makes the rules for the company and protects the owners from one another (if more than 1) and also helps prove that the entity is not just a tax shelter if ever audited by the government.
